School children from the Leamington Spa area were invited to attend a series of workshops at The Kingsley School, given by the London recorder quartet, i Flautisti, otherwise known as “the Girls Aloud of Baroque music”.
Over 90 pupils joined Kingsley students to listen to the ensemble, who are described as: “making a name for themselves by challenging preconceptions of recorder playing and delivering inspirational repertoire with imagination and creativity”.
i Flautisti spoke to the youngsters about playing techniques and performed a wide selection of music on a range of different sized recorders.
“It was a memorable and motivating experience for all the youngsters who attended and great PR for an instrument that is often derided!” said Kingsley’s Head of Performing Arts Mrs Judi Walton.
